John Hiebert, President and CEO
A successful entrepreneur with a solid track record of creating and building successful businesses, having founded and run two previous start-up companies. John was named President of Taiga in 2004 and President and CEO in 2006. His leadership has enabled the development of proprietary products, the identification of opportunities for growth and development, as well as the establishment of an expert cross-functional team. John has also earned numerous industry awards and recognition for innovation and performance.

Lewis Jorgenson
Broker Sales – Jorgenson Sales and Marketing Ltd.
Taiga has contracted with a national broker group via Jorgenson Sales & Marketing Ltd. This group has hundreds of years of experience and over 60 sales representatives in the field across Canada. They provide service to independent & pharmacy chains, as well as drug wholesalers, with their marketing specialty being O.T.C. pharmaceuticals. They also service the grocery, convenience & health food channels.
Experience includes:
- Represented Bristol-Myers Squibb OTC products such as Bufferin, Excedrin, Moisturel & LacHydran.
- Introduced Ombrelle sun care to the marketplace.
- Introduced Gold Bond medicated powder to the Canadian marketplace.
- Pioneered the introduction of energy bars to the Canadian marketplace with PowerBar.
- Brought Carmex lip balms to Canada.
- Was the catalyst behind Burt’s Bees being introduced to the Drug & Grocery channels.
- Works with AMG Medical & Roche Pharmaceuticals on diabetes care with Dex 4 glucose tablets.

Governance
Paul J. Heyens, Board Chair
Paul is a proven entrepreneur and brings strategic leadership expertise developed through more than 15 years as CEO and President of Alberta Glass Company Inc. (AG). He has overseen the growth of AG from 24 to 140+ employees with revenues in excess of $30million annually. Paul is active within multiple industries and currently sits on the Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training Board (AIT) and serves on the Industry Standards Committee for AIT. He is also Chairman of the Merit Contractors Association Board of Directors and serves on the Merit Contractors Association Pension Plan Board of Trustees. He is a member of the Calgary, Alberta, and Canadian Construction Associations; a member of the Alberta Building Envelope Council and other various industry associations. Paul has served on other business and non-profit boards and has extensive volunteer experience in both his local community and internationally.
James Gustafson, Director
James was born and raised in Saskatchewan and is a successful entrepreneur. In 1978, he purchased a local John Deere dealership in Estevan, Saskatchewan, which he grew into a 33 member strong sales and market support team. He subsequently opened and grew a very successful second dealership in Redvers, Saskatchewan. He serves as Vice President of the Estevan Chamber of Commerce and is active on the Boards of Estevan Motor Speedway and Estevan Bruins Junior Hockey.
Rick Smith, Board Advisor
Rick has significant senior management experience in the life sciences area including human pharmaceuticals, animal health and plant sciences with Eli Lilly and Company, as well as several commercialization initiatives in plant biotechnology. He retired at the end of 2005 as President and CEO of Dow AgroSciences Canada Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of the Dow Chemical Company. Current Board positions include: Director of AVAC; Chairman of the Board, SemBioSys Genetics Inc. (TSX); Director of Commercial Solutions Inc. (TSX); Board of Advisors, Chemaphor (TSX:V); Co-Chair of Bio Alberta.
